Texan 550 Top Class now LSA approved
Thursday, 14 June 2007

All involved understandably welcomed conclusion to a long and co-operative process with the parent company. CASA Authorised Person Mr Alan Jupp (Director of PlaneTorque Australia Pty Ltd) from Western Australia arrived at the Free flying hangar Redcliffe to a fleet of Texans awaiting his thorough inspection before the C of A was issued to each aircraft. The first Texan to be registered under the new LSA category was that of the Mr Loveridge 24-4522 and is currently being used as a pilot trainer at the Newcastle Aero club “The Texan is a capable and sturdy aircraft, now with the new upgraded undercarriage legs and increased MTOW were on a winner, pilots will be delighted with new variant”, said Ian Loveridge NSW dealer for Fly Synthesis.
Six Texan 550 TC are now registered on the LSA Category with more to follow shortly. With 30 aircraft now sold in Australia and NZ, 2007 is looking like a good year. The added benefit of the LSA Texan is that it can be registered either VH or RAA. Some GA schools prefer the VH registration so now we can accommodate them as well.

The factory is producing two versions of their formidable Texan Top Class. The version that has so far been imported to Australia is known as the Texan 550 LSA, 550 being representative of the MTOW. The other and newer version is the Texan Top Class 600 LSA. The Texan TC 600 is geared toward the GA pilot; it comes with a castoring nose wheel and toe brakes as well as other mods that GA pilots will be at home with.
