New Texan 600 Top Class and Storch 500 S.
Thursday, 5 July 2007
The new and improved aircraft are a result of continual improvements derived from surveys and customer feedback. Enhancements to the New Texan 600 range come from a big increase in useable weight, a new, more aerodynamic cowling as well as a lengthened and more streamlined canopy. Aside from the extra strengthening, the fuselage is now aerodynamically cleaner and as a result the Texan cruises faster and has a higher Vne.
To the delight of many GA pilots and flying schools, the other area of improvement is a new heavy duty undercarriage that utilizes toe brakes and nose wheel castoring.
The new Storch 500 S has had a revamp resulting in completely new carbon fibre wings with the benefit of increased cruise speed and a higher MTOW of 500kg. At the request of cross country pilots the new wings have bigger fuel tanks (2 x 45 litres) and can also be refueled in the traditional way via the bowser directly to the wing. Ordinarily the Storch refuels from its own onboard refueling pump and this is still available as an option.
