STORCH Amphibian CL

The FLY SYNTHESIS amphibious system has been entirely developed by the talented Engineers in the Research & Development department at Fly Synthesis Italy. Years of experience and knowledge in the use of composite materials, has allowed the construction of a very light and strong floatation system required for the marine use possible.

After a long period of exhaustive testing, our techniques have enabled us to produce the lightest amphibious system presently on the market, fully satisfying even the most restrictive international regulations.
The static tests carried out on the floats and structures linking the floats to the fuselage have exceeded the testing requirements of this project. Test flights have verified the strength of the amphibian system both on water and land. The plane flies with ease and controllability.

The aircraft features excellent “STOL” characteristics whether on land or water the hydrodynamic design allows for short take-off and landings in the smallest of distances. Once on the water the rudder pedals and the insertion of the rudder in water control manoeuvring.

During flight and whilst in water, the principal landing gear is stowed inside the hulls reducing drag. During a landing on an airstrip the landing gear can be operated and lowered through the manual control, which at the same time also operates the pulling out or extension of the front wheel.

The braking system of the principal landing gear is achieved by the use of a lever located in the cockpit. Application of the brakes is via the split drum brake system that operates both wheels equally. The front gear is formed by a telescopic oil-pressure shock absorber made from light alloy; the rudder pedals control the steering.

It’s important to high light that in the amphibian version all the connecting body parts have undergone intensive anti-corrosion treatment, whilst the critical parts are still made from stainless steel. This extra care will give the owner years of hassle free maintenance even in Australia’s harsh marine environment.

The STORCH CL J AMPHIBIAN is fitted with the reliable and powerful 2200 Jabiru engine.
